Oxide

A lean macOS workbench for reading, editing and git-managing markdown repositories.

Download for macOS

Requires macOS 14 or later on Apple Silicon. Intel Macs are not supported.

First launch shows a security warning — here's why, and what to do

Oxide is not yet notarized by Apple, so macOS will say it “cannot be checked for malicious software”. The app is signed and every update is cryptographically verified, but Apple's notarization service hasn't vouched for it yet.

  1. Open the downloaded .dmg and drag Oxide to Applications.
  2. Try to open it. macOS will refuse.
  3. Open System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll to the bottom, and click Open Anyway.
  4. Confirm. You only do this once.
